Confessional

We are a confessional fellowship. No confession of faith is ever a substitute for the Bible, nor does it ever intend to be. They are man-made documents and subject to error.

However, confessions are helpful summaries of what any church or organization believes Scripture teaches and commands. So they are particularly useful to anyone who wants to find out what such an organization believes on any given subject. For instance, if one were concerned whether or not a Southern Baptist church believes that men are saved by faith alone, the answer could easily be found in the Baptist Faith and Message.

Desiring, then, to find a summary of what Scripture teaches that is accurate, comprehensive, and widely accepted, our board members, ministers, and other church officers have examined different confessions of the Christian faith. We have found that the Westminster Standards (Confession of Faith, Larger, and Shorter Catechisms) are a true summary of what Scripture teaches. Speaking in broader categories of church history, this means ClearNote Fellowship is Christian, Protestant, and Reformed.
