Pastoral Skills

The development of pastoral skills is a crucial aspect of our students’ training. The purpose of this element of the CNPC program is to train the men in the practical activities that pastors are required to perform. These activities fall into the following basic categories:

  • administration (such as overseeing newsletters and mailings, being an active member of a committee, attending monthly elders’ meetings, etc.)
  • teaching (Sunday school, youth groups, small groups, etc.)
  • ministry (such as observing counseling and participating in visitation)
  • evangelism (door to door visitation, street preaching, personal witnessing, etc.)
  • service (such as cleaning church facilities, setting up for meetings and activities, greeting visitors, etc.)
  • preaching

In each of these activities, the students are provided with the counsel and oversight of their pastors and elders, as well as constructive feedback and criticism.
